This contemporary depiction of the Battle of Borodino
was reprinted during the reign of Alexander III (1881–94)—to
whom NYPL's copy was presented—in large folio format.
Depicted here are several of the great heroes of this
decisive Russian victory over the French: General Mikhail
Barclay de Tolly, and the dying Prince Petr Bagration.
