Pop Transformations

Classical works, light tunes, and traditional music have all proven a rich resource for pop musicians. By adding a catchy beat to a preexistent melody, they have transformed many tunes into toe-tapping standards. Paul Lincke's light classic "Glühwürmchen Idyll" from his 1902 operetta Lysistrata finds renewed life as "Glow-worm" in Johnny Mercer's modern version of 1952.
