Sala Rabinowicz
Postcard to Sala Garncarz, in German, Sosnowitz, Poland, August 28, 1942
NYPL, Dorot Jewish Division, Sala Garncarz Kischner Collection

In the summer of 1942, Sala was transferred from Geppersdorf to other labor camps. During this period of transition, she received this postcard from her close friend Sala Rabinowicz, who relates the harsh news that Raizel and Blima have been deported to Neusalz, Germany, with other women from Sosnowitz. However, another sister, Laja Dina Krzesiwo, is still at home with her family. She ends, “Please don’t cry.”
