Raizel Garncarz
Postcard to Sala Garncarz, in German, Sosnowitz, Poland, December 20, 1940
NYPL, Dorot Jewish Division, Sala Garncarz Kischner Collection
Raizel explains that Sala may not have received letters from family and friends
because they were written in Polish. The Nazis required that correspondence
be written in German, and would not deliver letters in Polish or Yiddish. Raizel
encourages Sala to speak with her supervisors to get a “vacation.”
