Raizel Garncarz
Postcard to Sala Garncarz, in German, Sosnowitz, Poland, December 1, 1940
NYPL, Dorot Jewish Division, Sala Garncarz Kischner Collection
Raizel suggests that Sala use the German postal system, or Deutsche Reichspost,
because it will be faster than the community mailbag: “We write very
often but it looks like you didn’t receive anything … the best
is to write by [German] mail and receive it in two days…. it takes 10–12
days through the [Jewish] community.” At that time, the German stamps
bore Hindenburg’s profile.
