From Sala’s letters, Ala knows that Harry Haubenstock has become Sala’s boyfriend. In this postcard, addressed to “Sarenka,” the last one Sala received from her, Ala writes that she and her husband, Bernhard, are well and that they “plan to go to the camp.” Perhaps Ala knew that the Nazis were about to disband the Judenrat and deport everyone to camps.
