Mrs. Gamp, The Public Reading.
Two pages from the reading in which the tipsy nurse and her peculiar patois take center stage. One of Dickens's most popular readings, especially in the United States, Mrs. Gamp was also the most heavily revised, the many manuscript additions and deletions in this privately printed reading edition (or, prompt-copy) documenting how Dickens drastically reworked his "role" over the years.
