The Gold Rush, Railroads, and the Theater Boom

The importance of railroads to the commercial theater and concert circuit can be seen in their economic interrelations. By the 1880s, theater program advertising for railways and railroad products equaled that for local retailers. This souvenir program features many beautifully engraved, scenic railway ads such as this one.
