"Dearest Annie: Tomorrow we move on toward Santiago where we expect a hard battle." Stereoscopic view. New York: Underwood & Underwood, 1898.
NYPL, Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Division of Art, Prints and Photographs, Photography Collection, Robert N. Dennis Collection of Stereoscopic Views

This stereoscopic portrayal of U.S. troops and their war actions is part of several collections sold to a public eager to view war scenes in three dimensions and feel closer to the common soldier's experience. Images such as this one expressed intimate moments in military camps, where most soldiers spent much of the war. They also emphasize the highly regarded "Rough Riders" regiment.
