An arc symbolizing the globe represents Russia's engagement with the World

Russia Engages the World
was initially exhibited in two galleries of the Humanities and Social Sciences Library on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street: The Sue and Edgar D. Wachenheim Gallery and the D. Samuel and Jeane H. Gottesman Hall. During the development of the physical exhibition, the curators and designers were mindful of the projects associated with the exhibition – the companion volume and the website – and took pains to ensure that all three projects were complementary aesthetically. One of the graphic elements used to create the logo for the exhibition was an arc symbolizing the globe, and representative of Russia's engagement with the world. This element was incorporated in the design for the exhibition banner which hung in front of the Library's Fifth Avenue entrance, on interior freestanding walls in Gottesman Hall, in exhibition literature, and in this website.
