Announcement for Romeo and Juliet performed by The American Co. at the New Theatre, [Philadelphia], April 7, 1767 The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Billy Rose Theatre Collection Lewis Hallam's troupe performed Othello and The Merchant of Venice in Virginia in 1752. His son, Lewis Hallam, the younger, formed the Hallam Company, which toured from Philadelphia to Baltimore and New York.
