An electrical experiment from Sir William Watson, Recueil de traités sur l'electricité, traduits de l'Allemand & de l'Anglois

In a popular eighteenth-century electrical experiment, a boy, suspended
by silk cords, draws a charge from a generator, transmitting it to a girl
standing on dried pitch, allowing her to attract and repel chaff.
