When Is a Book Not a Book? Oliver Twist in Context

"Oliver introduced to the respectable Old Gentleman," an original etching by George Cruikshank, appeared first in the May 1837 number of Bentley's Miscellany. It was reissued in volume 1 (January-June 1837) of the collected numbers of the Miscellany and reprinted in November 1838 opposite page 132 in volume 1 of the first three-volume edition of the novel.
